I am currently high on the buzz of finally purchasing my wrestling tickets for Monday Night RAW the night after Wrestlemania. I'm going to do my best not to read/hear anything that happens until I get there and find out IN PERSON. But, as we all know, I am impatient and will want to know everything as soon as it happens. Particularly where Triple H is concerned. But I digress. On to the WM27 lineup...
I agree with Mel on many of these matches. I want Edge to win (not only because I love him & Christian, but because Alberto Del Rio irritates the crap out of me. YOU CANNOT BE EDDIE GUERRERO, dude! ), I think Snooki needs to butt out of the WWE and wallow back to the Jersey Shore, Daniel Bryan vaguely peaks my interest (while Sheamus still creeps me out), obviously I want Kane and the Big Show to win - along with Santino! He makes me laugh and is generally a good sport.
I don't even need to comment on Triple H/Undertaker. I will be writing an entire post eventually dedicated to my love for Triple H. But that doesn't mean I don't love the Taker. He's my 4th favorite wrestler of all time. (Top Five: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, The Undertaker, Ken Shamrock - who is one of the only UFC cross overs that I enjoy). Either way, this match will mean the end of an important era for Mel and I. I want Triple H to win because I don't want him to retire from wrestling, which is something that has been floating around the rumor mill since last June. But I don't want the Undertaker to leave, either. Rock, me, hard place.
As for the Miz and John Cena, I am relatively unimpressed with John Cena. I like that he is a good person in real life, and sometimes he is amusing as a character on RAW. But, overall, I find him to be overrated and over appreciated, while wrestlers that I feel are more deserving of WWE Championship title shots (Edge, Christian, Kane, Big Show, etc) go on with less important story lines. I get that Cena has a big draw because he appeals to many different demographics (good Lord, do the ladies love him), and he is attractive and can wrestle well. So I will cheer for him to win. However, it isn't because I like him as much as it's that I hate the Miz and hope his eyebrows fall off. I am going to get THIS AIN'T THE REAL WORLD tattooed on my forehead. Or on The Miz's forehead. I don't think the Miz deserves the title because he has rarely, if ever, accomplished anything in the ring by himself. He cheats, he lies, he says he's awesome when he isn't! At least Cena is an honest wrestler that can pull his own weight.
Randy Orton vs CM Punk... During the past few weeks, I have been delighted by this match up, because I can't stand either of these wrestlers, and I enjoy seeing either one of them get the crap kicked out of them. Randy Orton was tolerable when he was in Evolution, and that was only because he was rolling with my boys Triple H and Ric Flair (Batista, while sometimes interesting to watch, will never be my boy because of his Godsmack belly button tattoo). Since then, he has targeted pretty much every single wrestler that I love. He's a self important douchebag that thinks because he's a third generation wrestler, he is more deserving of title shots and main events than wrestlers who weren't born into the business and had to work their way to the top. Also, his tattoos are dumb and he applies too much oil before he comes out to wrestle. No one needs to be that oily and creepy, Randy. No one.
However, my disdain for CM Punk surpasses that of my disdain for Randy Orton (seriously, it's surprising, but true). CM Punk is a wrestler that I was sort of on the fence about for a long time. He wasn't really that apparent in my wrestling life, as he wasn't a major figure (or any figure) on RAW for a long time. Sure, he'd pop up every now and again (as Smackdown and ECW wrestlers tend to do), but overall he was off my radar. And then he became a nuisance. He is straight edge, he had the Jesus beard and hair that he refused to cut (seriously, if I have to endure another storyline about whether or not someone will cut their hair, I'MA SCREAM), and was just generally a pompous jerk that is disrespectful to anyone with a different lifestyle than him. And though he is from Chicago, and some may feel that I should have hometown pride - I don't. He has a Pepsi tattoo. HE CHALLENGED STONE COLD TO A FIGHT ON TWITTER. He told me to shut up once at a wrestling event (this was a high point in my wrestling fandom and a low point in his decision making life. Obviously once you engage a drunk wrestling fan, they never quit. Suck it, Punk!). I crack open a nice cold one every time Punk appears on my television screen in his douchebag honor. He is also a giant cheater that really can't do anything on his own. There have been other heel ringleaders that notoriously had their backup take care of their business, but they had earned their licks in the business. Punk has not proven to me that he can take care of himself. He has a smart mouth, a judgemental attitude, and a stupid finishing move. I hope Orton kicks that dumb beard off his face!
